Brief profile of Marlot Communicatie
Marlot Communicatie (Marlot Communications) started in 2000 as Elias Communicatie, named after the founder, Ton Elias. As of January 1st, 2007, when three employees gained a majority in stocks from Elias, the company is named Marlot Communicatie.
Marlot Communicatie strives to define and meet communication requirements of our clients and provide crystal-clear and ready-to-use solutions. The consultancy is driven by hard-nosed business realities, not theoretical models. Both government and private businesses are amongst our clients and we enjoy longstanding relationships with journalists.
The office is run by the main shareholders, Steven Gelder (1956) and Bart Jochems (1961). Gelder was a reporter for 13 years for one of the main dailies in the Netherlands (Algemeen Dagblad) and later worked as a PR-manager for several broadcasters. He was a spokesman for insurance company Aegon the Netherlands and joined the company in 2000.
Jochems was a reporter for over 10 years, working for a press agency that combined more than 12 local newspapers in the Netherlands and Belgium. Later he reported for 'RTL Nieuws', the commercial TV-station in the Netherlands and switched to public broadcaster 'NOS' (NOS Journaal). After two years at Aegon the Netherlands, he was appointed spokesman to the state secretary for European Affairs and ultimately acted for 5 years as the personal spokesman to the Dutch minister of foreign affairs. He joined Marlot Communicatie in 2005.
